In less than 200 days, the global interfaith community from all corners of the globe will descend upon the Lakeside Center of McCormick Place for the 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions. This history Convening comes at a time when countries and communities around the world are grappling with the threat of war and autocracy, economic recessions, human rights violations, and the erosion of religious and civic freedom. Amidst this turmoil, the global interfaith community has an important role to play in facilitating interfaith dialogue, understanding, and action. Celebrating the Voices of the Movement Answering the Call for Programs

This month, the program team at the Parliament of the World’s Religions began to roll out their decisions on the more than 1,300 proposals that were submitted for the Call for Programs. The voices of the interfaith movement answered the call far and wide, resulting in a competitive and dynamic program for the 2023 Convening that will offer more than 500 programs from August 14th-18th. As faith, spiritual, and civic leaders from all parts of the world come together with a common objective – sharing knowledge and exchanging best practices on defending freedom and human rights- Convening attendees can surely look forward to a vibrant event filled with enlightening panel discussions, meaningful workshops, religious and cultural performances, and much more!

Celebrating Communities and Organizations Hosting Booths & Exhibits

As excitement for the 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions continues to build, many communities, organizations, universities, and vendors have already signed up to host booths and exhibits to celebrate and represent their faith and work at this landmark Convening. From hosting booths, dialogues, and educational exhibits, 2023 Parliament exhibitors have been working diligently to get ready for the big event. With an expected 10,000+ people in attendance, the forums, dialogues, meetings, demonstrations, workshops, and exhibits provide both faith communities and secular organizations a platform to foster discussion around the critical issues facing the world.

Celebrating the Landmark of the Global Ethic

As the world’s largest, most diverse, and inclusive interfaith event the 2023 Parliament Convening will truly be a landmark year of celebration. Not only does it mark the 130th anniversary of the 1893 World’s Parliament of Religions that cemented the City of Chicago as the birthplace of the modern interfaith movement, but also commemorates 30 years since the Parliament’s signature document, the Global Ethic, was endorsed at the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago. At the 2023 Parliament Convening, leaders from all over the world will be called to celebrate the community’s commitment to the directives of the Global Ethic and envision the future of this critical document.
