Sustainability at the 2023 Parliament

We are so excited to share with you our plans to bring a sustainable Parliament to Chicago this August! Wondering how you can have an eco-friendly experience?
Take public transportation: Try sustainable transportation to get to McCormick Place! You can purchase a public transportation pass to use Chicago’s bus, train, or Metra rail lines at any train station or through the mobile app, Ventra.
Located on Level 2.5 of the Grand Concourse in the South Building, the METRA Electric commuter railroad provides direct service within seven minutes to and from downtown Chicago.
Bus service runs approximately every 15 minutes to the convention center. The #3 King Drive bus is the most common bus route to McCormick Place as it runs north/south along Michigan Avenue serving many downtown hotels and the Magnificent Mile and Water Tower Place. The McCormick Place stop is located at 2301 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Chicago and is in front of the main entrance. You can find out more about using public transit to reach McCormick Place here.
Sustainable eating/drinking: We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to the Parliament–there will be many water filler stations throughout the convention center to fill up your own bottle! Keep your eye out for a guide to sustainable eating in Chicago, coming soon.
Learn more about McCormick Place’s Sustainability Initiatives: McCormick Place is an industry leader in sustainability, with an on-site food waste-to-energy system, 100% compostable or recycled service ware and paper products, on-site recycling compactors, a rooftop garden, and one of Chicago’s largest green roofs (150,000 sqft!) to reduce heat, limit energy usage, and improve air quality. The convention center has a number of sustainability certifications, including a Green Seal Certification, GBAC STAR Accreditation–ISSA, Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award, and more. You can learn more about sustainable practices at McCormick Place here.
