Who: Chicago area faith communities and community organizations may register a parade unit. We recommend marching units of 30+ people and highly encourage representations of dance traditions from your religious/spiritual community. The Parade of Faiths is open to be attended by the public for free.

When: Sunday, August 13, 2023

Where: Chicago, IL, USA (exact parade route TBD)

The Parade of Faiths will be held as an opening event leading up to the 2023 Chicago Global Convening of the Parliament of the World’s Religions. Chicago holds the distinction of hosting the 1893 World Parliament of Religions, which was the landmark beginning of the modern interfaith movement. Today's Parliament Convenings are the world's largest and most inclusive interfaith gathering, with an average attendance of 8,000 participants. The Parade of Faiths will bring the impact of the Parliament’s mission and the significance of this global convergence in Chicago to the general public in an exhilarating display of harmony. The Parade of Faiths is a symbol of the Parliament experience itself: diverse religious and spiritual communities sharing their distinctive traditions through creative expression and movement.

The Parade of Faiths celebrates Chicago’s local community, local religious and cultural diversity, and Chicago’s role in the history of the global interfaith movement. Diverse local faith communities will represent their communities in the parade with floats and displays of dance and movement.

The entry fee to have a unit in the Parade of Faiths is $75 for non-profit organizations and $125 for for-profit companies. The Parliament reserves the right to refund and deny any entrant if the Parliament feels the proposed parade unit is not in keeping with the objectives of the Parliament and the Parade of Faiths.
