Calling 150 Singers to Perform Cantata for the Earth at the 2015 Parliament

August 18, 2015

Do you love to sing?  Are you passionate about the Earth?
Join the Parliament Choir for daily rehearsals during the lunch break from Thursday through Monday, and a performance with string quartet and percussion on Monday, October 19th of Songs of the Earth, a cantata in praise of the Earth’s beauty.
Composed by Salt Lake-based composer Mary Lou Prince and lyricist Reverend Patty Willis, the cantata was performed last year by multi-faith choirs at Salt Lake’s historic Temple Square. This opportunity offers people from many faiths and many countries to join their voices in praise of the Earth.
We will accept the first 150 singers who sign up, so hurry!  This opportunity is open to registered participants of the 2015 Parliament. Not registered? Click here to sign up!
Music and recordings of the songs will be sent to participants electronically on September 1st. We ask all singers to commit to learning the music before they arrive in Salt Lake.
Parliament rehearsals will be held daily, beginning October 16 from 1:15 pm -2:00 pm (during the 2-hour lunch break).
The performance will take place on the last afternoon of the Parliament, Monday, October 19th. The choir will also perform two songs from the cantata during the final closing plenary session of the 2015 Parliament.
If you are interested in joining the choir, please reply to Mary Lou Prince  .

Include your name, which part you will sing (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) and your country of residence.

We are looking forward to making music together at the Parliament!
