Title: Eblast - Goodbye, Gratitude & a Bit of Final Report
Details: As I leave the Parliament as its board chair, I want to express my profound gratitude for all that we have accomplished together. No one of us could have done this alone. But together what we have achieved is nothing short of miraculous. Yes, we have done it. We’ve done it together. But it could not have been done without the blessings of the Almighty. For that I am sure we all give deepest thanks.

Title: Newsletter - Presenting the Next Parliament Chair
Details: Dr. Robert Sellers to Chair the Board of Trustees of the Parliament of the World's Religions  Three years ago, under a ten year old burden of debt, the Parliament was falling apart. We were consulting bankruptcy attorneys. In those depressing days, looking for some light, I asked the trustees to think what they would like the Parliament to do if money were no object. The trustee who, in my view, came up with the best ideas for the future of the Parliament was a certain Texan named Rob Sellers. As chair of the board of the Parliament it is my distinct pleasure to announce that Robert Preston Sellers has been elected by our board of trustees to be the next chair of the Parliament. He will take charge January 1st as I retire at the end of my term limit this year.

Title:  Newsletter/Eblast - #LoveAlert to Protect the Only Earth We Have
Details: The Parliament's Pathway to Paris Three weeks ago, nearly ten thousand members of the world's faith and spiritual communities committed to rise in action to save the only earth we have. Three weeks from now, members of the world's most powerful nations will gather in Paris to make decisions that will determine the fate of our planet and all living beings. This isn't the first time the global interfaith movement has risen to strive for sustainability for all life. But the recent 2015 Parliament clarified and emphasized the urgency and cooperation with which we must act. We recognize climate degradation poses a risk that every gain in worldwide development will be rendered futile should we fail to establish and adhere to international guidelines to regulate and reverse the systems which have created this mess.

Title: Eblast - We did it -- women made history in 2015!
Details: I started writing this letter just after we departed Utah, soaring on immense fulfillment and possibility generated by our historic Inaugural Women’s Assembly at the 2015 Parliament. Yet over the last several weeks, I’ve waited to talk with you about women at the Parliament as we focused on the triumph and tragedy unfolding in Paris, the United States and elsewhere – from the global action to address climate change to utterly heartbreaking losses at the hands of extremists. It seems no place is untouched by the very critical issues the 2015 Parliament aimed to heal. Global conditions today call us to do more. In October, we agreed that answers to these complex - but curable - global nightmares will only come when women’s voices are welcomed to the tables of power. “The time is now” for women’s unrestricted contributions. As we gathered together – more than 6500 women, 10,000 overall at the 2015 Parliament - our faiths were strengthened, in our own humanity and power to make change. And through the first ever global interfaith Assembly and Program Initiative by and for women, we set a new paradigm.

Title: Eblast - Parliament Ambassadors: The Listening Project
Details: Attention all Ambassadors- especially those who are attending the Parliament in Salt Lake City in October! You are invited to participate in a special, optional training series, The Listening Project. It is based on a program that Eileen Epperson, a member of our Ambassador Advisory Committee, created for the 2009 Parliament. Her premise is that everyone who attends a Parliament has a story to tell- and is eager to talk. This led to the conclusion that it would be an important service to have a dedicated group of listeners available. This program is focused on how we, as Ambassadors, can become that listening presence at the 2015 Parliament.

More than 30 religious leaders and faith-based organizations have endorsed the World Bank's call for ending extreme poverty. The statement explains the moral obligation shared between faith communities to end the systems which create extreme poverty. “When we in the interfaith movement commit our faith and action with the will to make it happen, incredible progress is possible,” says Parliament's Executive Director Dr. Mary Nelson. "We fully endorse the moral imperative, and welcome the opportunity to work with the World Bank, the United Nations, and other international partners to relieve more than 1.2 billion people currently living in extreme poverty." “Poverty is a moral issue. The 2015 Parliament will have a special track on the widening wealth gap and income inequity,” says Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, Parliament Board Chair. Mujahid continues, “We will invite the 10,000 participants of 80 countries and 50 religious and spiritual traditions of the 2015 Parliament to make a commitment to engage the guiding institutions of their respective countries to make extreme poverty a thing of the past through changes in public policy, and to facilitate a balanced relationship between labor and capital to achieve just distribution of wealth.”
