The Parliament Celebrates the 63rd Session of the Commision on the Status of Women at the UN

The Parliament of the World's Religions is a proud member of the UN Faith Based Advisory Council at the United Nations. From March 11 - 22, 2019 the Parliament will join global actors in celebration of the 63rd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.  

The Commission on the Status of Women is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women at UN Women. During the Commission’s annual two-week session, representatives of UN Member States, civil society organizations and UN entities gather at UN headquarters in New York [1].

On March 15th, the Parliament in partnership with the International Federation of Women in Legal Careers, NGO CSW, The Temple of Understanding, United Methodist Women, United Religions Initiative, and The World Peace Prayer Society is a proud sponsor of the 5th Annual Commission on the Status of Women Interfaith Service of Remembrance and Gratitude. Join us in a loving remembrance for those who have gone before us and who continue to inspire our lives. The service is open to the public and attendees are invited to add their name to the memory book.

Doors open at 3:45 p.m. and service will begin at 4:00 p.m.

On March 19th, the Parliament will be represented on a special panel hosted by the United Nations Population Fund. Conversations on Social Cohesion: Stories of Women, Faith and Leadership brings together a remarkably diverse group of veterans of the fraught gender wars, from different religions and religious communities. 

Hear experiences and ideas for making things better from Rev. Dionne Boissière, Joyce Dubensky, Grove Harris, Azza Karam, Audrey E. Kitagawa.  Katherine Marshall, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, and Canon Sarah Snyder.
