7 Sacred Days with the Cape Town Interfaith Initiative (CTII)

The Parliament is a global partner to grassroots organizations during the celebration of UN World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW).

The Cape Town Interfaith Initiative (CTII) is a thriving interfaith organization and long-time partner of the Parliament, which won the H.M. King Abdullah II prize for World Interfaith Harmony Week for 2019. In 2020, they are revolutionizing what it means to celebrate WIHW with a seven day tour of the interfaith spaces in and around Cape Town, South Africa.

Beginning on February 1, 2020, CTII will be hosting a 7 Sacred Days tour of Cape Town. This seven day tour will take participants on an interfaith tour of the city to visit Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Anglican, Catholic, Khoisan, and interfaith organizations and landmarks throughout Cape Town. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about each site on the tour and interact with people from various religious and faith communities in Cape Town.

Leading this tour will be the Chairperson of CTII, Reverend Berry Behr. Of the experience she says, "Cape Town faith communities have a long history of interfaith engagement and we've seen the healing, the shared purpose and the enriching friendships that have grown as a result of it. Now we are ready to share the joy of our spiritual diversity with the world. We have created a unique, once in a lifetime experience designed to be of benefit to everyone - our participating communities, our guests and our beautiful city will all be winners from this multi faith, multinational, multicultural immersion. It showcases a depth of community and faith life that no tourist would normally get to see and we are thrilled to have the participation  of both the Catholic Archbishop of Cape Town, His Grace Stephen Brislin, and the Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato. We are very excited to welcome our guests!"
