Countdown to WIHW 2020: Official City Resolutions

As part of our countdown to the 10th Anniversary of UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, the Parliament of the World’s Religions invites organizers around the world to foster interfaith harmony by sponsoring an official city resolution from their local city government acknowledging the first week of February as Interfaith Harmony Week.

A number of cities, among them Toronto, Bangui, Davao, Tucson, and Dublin, have sponsored an official resolution or proclamation from their city government in support of World Interfaith Harmony Week.

Just this year the city of Toronto, our host for the 2018 Parliament, organized a proclamation from Mayor John Tory in support of interfaith harmony week to coincide with the official United Nations observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week.

The Parliament would like to acknowledge the important work done by the initiative Mayors and Cities for Interfaith Harmony which launched in 2016 by partners from Amman, Bangui, Banjul and Tucson to foster localized, city-based support for the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week. The Official City Resolution campaign at the Parliament is not affiliated with this initiative.
