The Parliament of the World’s Religions is joining international organizations, small non-profits, academic institutions and consulting agencies from around the world by becoming a cooperating organization for the upcoming Religion Communication Congress 2020.
Since 1970, the Religion Communication Congress has been a once-a-decade gathering of professional religion communicators from a wide range of faith traditions. The first Congress arose from a simple idea: to provide a forum to expand the experience and broaden the perspective of professional communicators in faith-based settings beyond their specialized work area. This year's theme focuses on “communicating faith in the public square”.
The Congress will feature the special participation of past Parliament keynotes like Dr. Azza Karam, Rev. Jim Wallis, and Dr. Simran Jeet Singh, as well as the participation of former Parliament Trustee, Dr. Mohamed Elsanousi.
This once-a-decade gathering of professional religion communicators will provide communicators, in the faith and interfaith spheres, the opportunity to connect, learn and explore with diverse colleagues around the world. According to the RCC 2020 team, attendees will:
NETWORK with colleagues from across the country and around the globe to expand your vision and improve your skills. Enjoy time with old friends, make new friends and enrich your ability to share faith in the public square.
LEARN to work smarter, faster, with heart during daily breakout sessions. With workshops on topics ranging from the one-page communications/marketing plan to creating multi-platform stories to handling media interviews like a pro, you’ll leave RCCongress 2020 with a stronger professional toolkit.
BE INSPIRED by media personalities and leaders from various faith traditions, including Secretary General of Religions for Peace Dr. Azza Karam, Sister Simone Campbell of "Nuns on the Bus" fame, Rabbi Rick Jacobs of the Union for Reform Judaism, Dr. Simran Jeet Singh of NYU’s Center for Religion and Media and the Sikh Coalition, Julie Zauzmer of the Washington Post, and others.
