World Interfaith Harmony Week – Feb, 2017
Promoting Equality
The Parliament of the World’s Religion (Islamabad Pakistan) has organized the “World Interfaith Harmony Week, 2017” at Multipurpose Hall, Islamabad Club, Islamabad Pakistan on Friday, February 03, 2017, with the aim to promote equality.
It is believe that it is time the power of interfaith works to transform fear, anger and hatred into positive human relationships. Sikhs, Hindus, Christians and other minorities are increasingly targeted in hate in Pakistan. These attacks are sanctioned by a political culture that tolerates hate speech and promotes racial intolerance.
We (likeminded people) have all along struggled for improving quality of life to the poor masses and low income groups. Our think tank prepares strategic policies and our human resources wing helps train the deprived masses to learn vocations for their bread and butter. The economist, engineers, medical doctors, journalists, teachers, literary persons, sociologists on our panel of volunteers work round the clock to strengthen our philosophy and mission.
We believe that different faiths do not bind in limits but allows social harmony and mutual tolerance for a better and progressive society. Re-affirming that “mutual understanding and inter-religious dialogue constitute important dimensions of a culture of peace”, the UN General Assembly proclaimed the first week of February of every year as “World Interfaith Harmony Week” between all religions, faiths and beliefs.
Reference to the General Assembly resolution adopted on 20 October, 2010, the Parliament of the World’s Religions has organized to promote mutual understanding and inter-religious dialogue to establish interfaith harmony. It is the need of the day to enhance mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among people from all faiths. Eminent speakers from all walks of life have delivered short speeches to disseminate this massage.
Ms. Anne Marchal, Deputy Head of EU Delegation, Mr. Joao Paulo Sabido Costa, the Charge’d Affairs of Portugal and H E Piotr A Opalinski, Ambassador of Poland were graced the event. Delegates from different faiths and community representatives were also present in the seminar.
