World Interfaith Harmony Week 2020 Prize Winners Announced

After a short delay due to COVID-19, the World Interfaith Harmony Week initiative has announced the official winners of the 2020 H.M. King Abdullah II World Interfaith Harmony Week Prize. The WIHW Prize recognizes the three best events organized during the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week which best promote the goals of the World Interfaith Harmony Week.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Staff of the Parliament of the World's Religions, we extend heartfelt congratulations to the winner and heartfelt gratitude to event organizers for being part of this observance of interfaith harmony around the world.

PoWR Updates
"Inspiration & Hope" Broadcast Brings Interfaith Community Together in #PrayerforHumanity Observance

On Thursday, May 14th the Parliament of the World's Religions joined faith leaders and peoples of faith around the world in observing the #PrayForHumanity campaign organized by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF). 

The #PrayForHumanity campaign calls on religious leaders and faithful around the world to a day of fasting, prayers and supplications for the good of all humanity for an end to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Relevance of Peace in the Post-Pandemic Era

As previously reported, Parliament Chair, Audrey Kitagawa, joined Bishop William Swing (President and Founding Trustee of URI), Jonathan Granoff (Parliament Special Ambasador and President of Global Security Institute), Dr. Iyad Abu Moghli (UNEP Faith For Earth Director) and Alyn Ware (Global Coordinator of Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation) for a special broadcast moderated by Green Hope Foundation's Founder-President, Kehkashan Basu on "The Relevance of Peace in the Post-Pandemic Era".

BBC World Service Radio "Heart and Soul" Series

On May 15th, Parliament Trustee Dr. Tarunjit S. Butalia joined the BBC World Service Radio series, "Heart and Soul, Reflections on Faith in a Global Crisis: Compassion". 

In the the "Heart and Soul" series, journalist John McCarthy brings together reflections from people of faith around the world.

Parliament Keynotes Join #PoWRofLove Challenge

As we announced in early April, the Parliament of the World's Religions is spotlighting the #PoWRofLove in the interfaith movement through the end of May. Parliament friends are sharing their reflections on the power of love in interfaith, why they love the Parliament, how they bring the power of love to their own communities, and more as part of the #PoWRofLove video challenge. 


This week Parliament keynotes, His Holiness Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, joined the challenge with inspiring messages of love.

Grandmothers' Wisdom: Emerging from COVID-19 with Love and Togetherness

We had an opportunity to speak with a group of several indigenous Grandmothers who travel together, offering spiritual leadership around the world. The group is formed around and inspired by Great Grandmother Rose Pere’s message “that we are all in it together, that we’re all part of the same unity, that really we are made of love, that our purpose is to see each other.”
