International Day for the Conservation of Tropical Forests Calls for Unity and Action

On Friday, June 26th the Parliament of the World's Religions, in partnership with the Interfaith Rainforest Initiative (IRI) and the Jane Goodall Institute, broadcasted an engaging program in observance of the International Day for the Conservation of Tropical Forests. Highlighting the Interfaith Rainforest initative and featuring the participation of Jane Goodall Institute Founder & UN Messenger of Peace, Jane Goodall; Senior Advisor, Forests & Climate, UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Charles Ian McNeill; Parliament Chair, Audrey Kitagawa; and Former UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, the broadcast emphasized the importance of protecting the planets forests.

As the featured experts shared, the destruction of tropical rainforests and the abuses carried out against these ecosystems directly impact indgenous communites, communities of color, and the the world at large.

Interfaith Community Commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations

On Saturday, June 27th the Parliament of the World's Religions joined the interfaith commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations. Organized by the United Nations Association of the United States of America, the United Nations Association (UNA) San Francisco, the University of San Francisco and United Religions Initiative (URI), the digital observance commemorated the creation and signing of the United Nations Charter in San Francisco.

The observance featured a historic interfaith panel on "The Role of Faith-Based Organizations as Partners with the United Nations".

Parliament Joins "Our Village" 2020 Observance

On Thursday, June 25th Parliament Chair, Audrey Kitagawa, joined a special program as part of the virtual "Our Village 2020" observance. 

"Looking At the Big Picture" featured a conversation between NASA austronat Jessica Meir, Parliament Chair and religious leader Audrey Kitagawa, and indigenous leader Rukka Sumbolingi, as part of day 4 of the "Our Village" programming. From space, from the community and from the future, the program explored different approaches to culture and climate.

A Time of Collective Spiritual Exploration

On Saturday, June 27th Parliament Chair, Audrey Kitagawa, joined Ambassador for Peace, Security and Nuclear Disarmament of the Parliament, Jonathan Granoff, for a program on "A Time of Collective Spiritual Exploration" hosted by the SunSeed Community, a growing worldwide collection of seekers and visionary warriors growing out of the film Sunseed and its audience and fans, and the message of the film—unity in diversity.

Love in the Time of Pandemic – Blessings form Interfaith Religious Leaders

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused 7.36 million+ infections with 410,000 deaths. The Museum of World Religions, as a spiritual interfaith platform based on the concept of Founder Dharma Master Hsin Tao, " When the mind is at peace, the world is at peace," invites the world leaders of religions to pray for delivery the power of love, emphaty, and unity to help people recover.

Parliament Chair, Audrey Kitagawa, was invited to participate in this prayer series.

Parliament Kicks Off LGBTQ+ Webinar Series with Panel on Creating a More Inclusive Next Generation

On Tuesday, June 23, the Parliament hosted its first webinar in a 3-part series focused on LGBTQ+ inclusion in faith and interfaith communities. The June 23 webinar hosted a panel reflecting on the forms of oppression that LGBT people are facing in their communities, the challenges they have experienced in their work toward creating a more inclusive next generation, and what strategies they’ve found to overcome these challenges.
