In Remembrance of Hiroshima & Nagasaki

August 6th and August 9th are dates of infamy as they mark the first and only use of nuclear weapons against civilians. Hundreds of thousands of citizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan were killed in this attrocious crime against humanity. The bombings are a stark reminder of the vulnerability of our humanity and the critical importance of working toward a nuclear-free world.

As the world marks the 75th Anniversary of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings in 2020, the world's preeminent interfaith organizations are coming together through a multilateral accord and a special remembrance broadcast that aims to reverse the race toward mutually assured destruction.

On Thursday, August 6th  8:00AM EDT, join Audrey Kitagawa, Chair of the Parliament of the World’s Religions; Marilyn Turkovich, Executive Director of the Charter for Compassion; Dr. Azza Karam, Secretary General of Religions for Peace; Victor Kazanjian, Executive Director of United Religions Initiative (URI); and Bishop William Swing, Founder/President of URI for a special broadcast introducing the historic Hiroshima/Nagasaki Accord, featuring former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev, former US Secretary of State George Shultz, and others.

Additional broadcasts will be hosted on the afternoon of August 6th and on August 8th & 9th, via Facebook, YouTube and partner websites.

This Thursday, July 30th join the Parliament of the World's Religions and Religions for Peace USA, for a special conversation about race in America.

Featuring biracial couple Bruce Knotts, Parliament Trustee, and Isaac Humphrie, Event Production Manager, the program will be hosted via Zoom by RFPUSA and streamed on the Parliament's Facebook page.

Indigenous Grandmothers Host Virtual Interfaith Prayer Circle for Parliament Members

On Tuesday, August 4th starting at 4 PM CST join a group of Indigenous Grandmothers hosting a virtual interfaith prayer circle, available exclusively for Parliament members.

The Grandmothers will offer prayer for the Earth, our relationship with her and with all of like, and for the boundless hear of our human family. Parliament members will then be invited to offer their own prayers.
