On Wednesday, March 24th the World Interfaith Harmony Week initiative announced the official winners of the 2021 H.M. King Abdullah II World Interfaith Harmony Week Prize.

The WIHW team reports that 133 applications for the prize, in the form of event reports, were received from the over 1,020 events held between January 30th and February 28th, 2021. According to the WIHW team, “the judges are highly appreciative of all the efforts of all those who held events and applied for the prize. They wish they could reward all who held an event, but are consoled by the fact that good deeds are their own reward so that everyone who held an event—whether they applied for the prize or not—is a true winner.”

Statement Released on March 19, 2021 -

The Parliament of the World’s Religions condemns the violent and racist attack perpetrated in Cherokee County and Atlanta against the Asian American community that left eight people dead, including six women of Asian descent. Our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers for the victims and their families of this horrific attack.

While authorities still investigate the nature of the crime, we cannot ignore the hate and xenophobia which has motivated the increase in violence against the Asian American community.

On Wednesday, March 31st join the Parliament of the World's Religions for a special observance of Women’s History Month, highlighting the critical role of female leadership in community healing and the pursuit of racial justice in Chicago. In recent years, as a result of climate change, the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir in India has experienced water stress conditions, decreased soil moisture, and expanding desert areas. Rainfall patterns have been changing, small glaciers and permanent snowfields are melting, and increasing temperature has been affecting water runoff in the rivers. Climate change has forced the people in Ladakh to adopt a new lifestyle in order to survive.

On Wednesday, March 24th the Parliament's Next Generation Task Force hosted, The Road to COP26: An Intergenerational and Multilateral Conversation on Climate Justice. Featured panelists highlighted the critical importance of multilateral work on climate justice and the ways that COP26 and the UK government are committing to an inclusive agenda.

The program featured the participation of Susan le Jeune d’Allegeershecque, CMG, Britain’s High Commissioner to Canada; Dr Magdalen Lambkin, Development Director of Interfaith Glasgow; Itinterunga Rae Bainteti, Co-Founder and Chair of the Kiribati Aotearoa Diaspora Directorate Charitable Trust; and Erin Isabel, Outreach Officer of Green Hope Foundation.
