I whole-heartedly endorse the expanded Global Ethic Declaration. The "new" commitment to a culture of sustainability and care for the Earth is a re-discovery of the thousand-year-old ethical standard of the popular indigenous belief systems all over the Earth that human beings are just a small part of nature and creation and that humans should respect and live in harmony with nature and all other creation. The culture of sustainability and care for the Earth is not only a common ethical norm in religion but also reflected in philosophy, for example the "ecological imperative" of Hans Jonas.

I am happily dedicated to the Global Ethic Project of building shared ground for a better world. I believe the Global Ethic Declaration testifies to the unifying aspiration of the diverse human family to cooperatively exercise and cultivate voluntary responsibility aimed at the dignity of all fellow human beings. As a list of values, the Global Ethic commitments are a list of desirable orientations that is attractive to anyone identifying as a human being among other fellow human beings and (a) looking for proven ways to get along well with them, especially in diverse or intercultural settings, and / or (b) looking for cosmopolitan purpose and guidance in building a better world with others. – As an ethic in the traditional sense of ethos – an attitude of character, an embodied disposition to act a certain way – Global Ethic commitments take the form of cosmopolitan virtues that shape and shade all habitualized and creative action. – Finally, as a practice, Global Ethic is the capacity for dialogue, built in the confluence of practicing all the commitments together. In Küng's tradition, the capacity for dialogue is central because it combines the steadfastness of religious truths with a readiness to learn and transform towards peace. And it is central for Global Ethic philosopher Claus Dierksmeier as the practice of globally responsible freedom as a method, as the exercise of procedural and participatory liberty.

The Golden Rule, the principles of the Universal
declaration of Human Rights, and this ethics statement take on life to the extent we move from love of self to
Selfless Love. Ethics are the foundation for a socially enabling environment for this lesson to be realized in peace. In this lesson is fulfillment.

I applaud the Parliament on this much needed additional 5th principle of ethics concerning environmental and climate justice. Our global society faces an unprecedented crisis today and the collective voices and wisdom of millions of good-hearted individuals and organizations will be required to address these crises, for the sake of all future generations. As Noam Chomsky and many others have warned, we are fast reaching the tipping point to species extinction, either quickly by nuclear annihilation (the revelations this week concerning Russia's newly proclaimed advancement in hypersonic nuclear missiles as but one indicator) or gradually through continued and increasing predation of the Earth Mother's precious resources resulting in an unsustainable development and undermining of the climate and all this catastrophically entails. I am proud to be a signatory to this addition of environmental justice as a guiding principle of an emerging new ethos embodied in the Parliament's articles and respectful of the rights of unborn future generations to a decent life on this beautiful sphere.

‘Towards a Global Ethic’ is a welcome document, and the new directive for a ‘Commitment to a Culture of Sustainability and Care for the Earth’ is extremely timely.

To live a fuller life in harmony with the Creator and His Creation, compassion, kindness, forgiveness, reconciliation and love are essential.
