February PoWR Member Spotlight: Rev. Masango Roderick Warakula
Rev. Masango Roderick Warakula is an Anglican priest in the Diocese of Harare, Zimbabwe in the Church of the Province of Central Africa. Masango came from Zimbabwe to Chicago to attend the 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions, his first time at a Parliament. At the Convening, Masango presented as a panelist in the session, “Sustainability and Climate With Real Life Examples of Success.”
What does being a Member of the Parliament of the World’s Religions mean to you?
“An opportunity to learn from other members and to share our experiences.”
Why is interfaith work important to you?
“The world is one but with people with different faiths and belief systems. Interfaith work enables us to work together in creating a better world.”
How do you try to advance the Parliament’s mission: of interfaith cooperation and creating a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world?
“I now make it my routine to attend interfaith gatherings in our country and beyond and establish how we can work together in creating a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world. I also now bring interfaith connectedness to the students I teach at our seminary.”
What would you consider to be a best practice, resource, or knowledge you would like to share?
“Praying and Worshiping together gives peace and tranquility to the heart.”
