2023 Chicago

August 14-18, 2023 | McCormick Place Lakeside Center

Pre-Parliament Events

Join us in answering the call to conscience at the 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago, USA. From now until August 2023, the Parliament will be collaborating with local religious and spiritual communities to come together to host a local pre-parliament event to offer “a taste” of the Parliament experience.

Pre-Parliament events provide people from all over the world the opportunity to get a “taste” of the Parliament experience by highlighting local interfaith activity and understanding while showcasing what makes Parliament Convenings so engaging: people coming together to celebrate each other’s culture and traditions.

  • What is a pre-Parliament event?

In the months leading up to the 2023 Parliament Convening in Chicago, USA communities around the world will hold Pre-Parliament Events.

Pre-Parliament Events offer “a taste of the Parliament experience,” an opportunity to learn more about the 2023 Parliament, and a forum to highlight the work of your local interfaith initiatives.

An event can be held in a conference center, a place of worship, a fellowship hall, a public arena, or a living room. Events can last for a few hours or a few days and can focus on our special constituencies (Women, Next Generation, and Indigenous) or our critical issues (the Global Ethic, Peace & Justice, and Climate Change).

Pre-Parliament events must have some element of the program dedicated to the promotion of the 2023 Chicago Parliament Convening and must provide the Staff with enough time to develop special marketing materials.

If you are interested in hosting a Pre-Parliament event or combining your existing event with a Pre-Parliament event, submit the Pre-Parliament Event Registration Form or email us for more information.

  • Expectations of the Host

Individuals and communities interested in hosting a pre-Parliament event must:

    • Submit the Pre-Parliament Event Registration Form
    • Communicate details with staff, share important text and graphics files within a reasonable timeframe of the announcement of the event
    • Work with Staff on developing marketing materials for the event, note that all marketing materials using the Parliament logo must be approved by Staff
    • Create a Facebook event and add “The Parliament of Religions” as a co-host
    • Work with Staff to develop a report of the event – the report should include a blog write up, pictures of the event, and any surveys from the event (See Resources for Hosts for more information)
    • Share names and emails of individuals interested in the Parliament with Staff (See Resources for Hosts for more information)
  • Resources for Hosts
