Extreme Poverty Conference to be held in New York City

August 27, 2015

On Thursday, September 24th, prior to the commencement of the UN General Assembly, the World Bank Group Faith Initiative (WBG) and the UN Interagency Task Force on Religion and Development will co-sponsor an event to be held in the Church Center in New York City regarding their April, 2015 statement entitled, “Ending Extreme Poverty: A Moral and Spiritual Imperative.”

This event will be co-hosted by The Parliament of the World’s Religions alongside Islamic Relief Worldwide, World Council of Churches, The Salvation Army, World Vision International, Interfaith WASH Alliance, The Milstein Center for Interreligious Dialogue of the Jewish Theological Seminary, American Jewish World Service, Sojourners, Church World Service, and the Baha’i International Community among others.

The Parliament has partnered with the WBG in the past in its efforts to end extreme poverty, adding its name to a list of 35 guiding institutions supporting the imperative this past July. The Parliament encourages all communities and individuals working towards greater economic justice to sign the statement and contribute to conversations on Facebook and Twitter using #Faith2EndPoverty. Your endorsement of this imperative will connect you to a network of like-minded individuals committed to achieving this goal.
