Fire Lighting Ceremony

Fire Lighting Ceremony — Representatives of the host Indigenous communities of Canada will be lighting the sacred fire before sunrise on Thursday, November 1.  Those wanting to witness the fire lighting ceremony should arrive before 7:30 a.m.  In the Anishinaabe tradition, the fire is lit and cared for by the men.  The fire lighting ceremony involves a traditional ceremony, songs and participation of Indigenous men from many nations.
