Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam is Full Professor (Chair of Philosophy of Science) and Director of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences in the Faculty of Philosophy at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome.

Prof. Kureethadam served as the Coordinator of the Sector of “Ecology & Creation” at the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development from 2017-2023, and continues to assist the efforts of the global Church in responding to Pope Francis’ passionate appeal to care for our common home.

Prof. Kureethadam’s double passion is to pass on to younger generations not only a sense of awe and wonder before the grandeur and majesty of the universe, but also a deep sense of concern for the increasingly precarious state of our common planetary home. For nearly a quarter of a century or so, he has been particularly engaged with ecological issues, teaching courses, conducting workshops for young people and committed grassroots activists, and publishing articles and books in this area.

Prof. Kureethadam has been especially associated with the study and diffusion of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ Encyclical Letter on Care for Our Common Home, and his commentary on the encyclical has been published in nearly two dozen languages. Prof. Kureethadam’s published works include several books and nearly 100 articles. Has published in the areas of Philosophy of Science, History of Science, Theology of Creation, Ecology and Environmental Sciences.
