Swami Ishatmananda

Swami Ishatmananda is a senior monk of the Ramakrishna Order and serves as the President of the

Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago. The Ramakrishna Order is an organization of world-renouncing monks. It was established by the famous Swami Vivekananda in 1897. At present it has 193 centers all over the world disseminating the idea of “Unity in Diversity” through Vedanta.

Swami Ishatmananda was initiated by Revered Swami Vireshwarananda, the 10th President of the Ramakrishna Order, and received his sannyasa in 1986 from Revered Swami Gambhirananda, the 11th President of the Order.

Swami Ishatmananda served for twelve years at Advaita Ashrama, Kolkata, India—the English publication of the Ramakrishna Order. He has worked at the well-known educational institution of the Ramakrishna Mission in Purulia, West Bengal, India.

Since the beginning of 2013 he has been serving the Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago as its President. Under his leadership the society observed the 150th Birth Anniversaries of Swami Vivekananda in 2013 and Sister Nivedita in 2017.
