Bullying of Sikh American Children

Session Description:

This session is designed to highlight key chapters of the book “Bullying of Sikh American Children: Through the Eyes of a Sikh American High School Student.” The first part of the session briefly provides background on who Sikhs are and sheds some light on Sikh History. Next, the session focuses on the definition of bullying and provides case studies regarding incidents where Sikh students were victims of bullying in the school environment. The session then discusses data correlated from interviews with several child psychiatrists as well as surveys of hundreds of Sikh children conducted at Gurdwaras across America. Finally, the session includes real-life solutions mentioned in the book regarding the best way to overcome bullying for children, parents, and others.
