Interfaith Community Commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations

On Saturday, June 27th the Parliament of the World’s Religions joined the interfaith commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations. Organized by the United Nations Association of the United States of America, the United Nations Association (UNA) San Francisco, the University of San Francisco and United Religions Initiative (URI), the digital observance commemorated the creation and signing of the United Nations Charter in San Francisco.

The observance featured a historic interfaith panel on “The Role of Faith-Based Organizations as Partners with the United Nations”. Moderated by Rev. Victor Kazanjian from URI, the panel featured the participation of Rabbi Serena Eisenberg, the Director of Northern California American Jewish Committee, H.E. Ambassador Mussie Hailu, the Director of Global Partnerships at URI, Dr. Azza Karam, the Secretrary General of Religions for Peace, H.E. Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, the Secretary-General of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance (GIWA), Monica Willard, the URI Representative to the United Nations, and Audrey Kitagawa, the Chair of the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
