UN75 & the UN International Day of Peace: Pathways for Transformation at the United Nations
Organized in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations and in observance of the UN International Day of Peace, the UN2020 Coordinating Partners invited global audiences to an informal dialogue with key actors in the field of global affairs, religion, ethics, and peace and security on Saturday, September 19th.
The 1.5 hour dialogue was pre-recorded as UN2020’s contribution for the observance of the UN International Day of Peace to be viewed on the global platform of Unity Earth’s Peace Weekend taking place 19-21 September. The discussion addressed matters beyond technical fixes.
How has humanity engaged in transformative change throughout history?
How can political-will be galvanized?
How can we expand consensus around shared values?
What does the future look like for global governance?
The dialogue was moderated by Daniel Perell, UN Representative of the Baha’i International Community and featured the participation of Audrey Kitagawa, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Parliament of the World’s Religions; Azza Karam, Secretary General of Religions for Peace; Fabrizio Hochschild-Drummond, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Commemoration of the United Nations 75th Anniversary; Roberto Múkaro Borrero, Chair, NGO Committee on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; and Steven Aiello, Founder of Debate for Peace from Tel Aviv, Israel.
