The honorable Elijah Muhammad was the leader of the Nation of Islam, a pseudo-Islamic community. Upon his death in 1975, he appointed his son, Warith Deen Mohammed to be the leader of the Nation of Islam. Imam W. Deen Mohammed from 1975 to the present evolved the community to Orthodox al-Islam, establishing the Mosque Cares. Imam W. Deen Mohammed passed away in 2008, appointing his son Warith Deen Mohammed II as President of the Mosque Cares and the Ministry of Imam W. Deen Mohammed.
