The Opening Plenary

The Opening Procession & Ceremony of the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago is a grand and awe-inspiring event that sets the tone for the five days of convening.

The Global Ethic Assembly

This assembly celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Global Ethic document, introduced to the attendees of the Parliament in Chicago in 1993. It is a unique and courageous expression of the moral values and principles shared by people throughout the world, whether religious or not. It is also a living document, expanded in 2018 with language elaborating a commitment to a culture of sustainability and care for the Earth. It is a powerful starting place for collaboration between those whose beliefs or worldviews may clash but who agree on the basic moral principles and values that ground their work on issues of common concern.

Climate Action Assembly I

The opening Climate Action Assembly offers a comprehensive discussion of the biggest threats facing our planet today, with clear and impactful ways for you to take action to help save the Earth. At the forefront of these conversations are examples of work that is already underway, including the Fossil Fuels Non-Proliferation Treaty, the movement to eradicate plastics, and the UN-recognized Human Right to a Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Environment.

The Women’s Assembly

The Women’s Assembly at the 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions is sounding an urgent call to defend the freedom, human rights, and dignity of women and girls across religious and spiritual traditions and around the world.

The Women’s Assembly will offer inspiration and advance solutions that address the most critical intersectional issues affecting women and girls around the world: autocracy, the climate crisis, violence, and war.

The Crisis Plenary

The Plenary on Crisis highlights the urgent threat of authoritarianism and addresses some of the most pressing threats facing democracy and human rights today.

The Conscience Plenary

The Plenary on Conscience is a thought-provoking gathering that explores the ethical and religious importance of conscience, not just as an individual and collective moral compass, but as a dynamic call to action to defend the dignity, freedom, and human rights of all.

The Community Plenary

The Plenary on Community Strategies is a dynamic and engaging gathering that explores innovative approaches to building strong, resilient communities. Expert speakers share their experiences, insights, and proven best practices on how to create effective community-driven solutions to pressing social issues.

The Climate Action Assembly II

The Climate Action II Assembly presents a series of statements and action plans addressing fossil fuels, plastics pollution, biodiversity, the rights of future generations, and more. In this program, we aim to mobilize Parliament participants to take action in their communities to promote climate change mitigation strategies.

The Closing Plenary

The Closing Ceremony is a momentous occasion that celebrates the collective knowledge, experience, and commitment of every participant at this 9th global Convening of the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
