A Fireside Chat: Women of Faith on the Importance of Personal Growth as Peacebuilders
Session Description:
Women play a vital role in development and peacebuilding; the importance of engaging them in this realm is obvious. However, discrimination and sexism are tragically common in nearly all environments and the world of religion is not exempt. There is, therefore, a very personal struggle for women leaders in the peacebuilding realm. This session is an intimate conversation with several high-powered, women leaders from different faith traditions throughout the world and provides a window into how faith can anchor and guide us in all aspects of our lives, including informing how we understand, process, and address the struggle with gender inequality. Presenters share personal experiences and how their faith helped them to understand and heal, and how they’ve continued to grow and shine as leaders. This session is deeply meaningful and falls under the programming category of PoWR’s critical constituencies: Indigenous Peoples, The Next Generations, and Women and Girls.
