A US Public School District Fully Committed to Religious Literacy? Yes!
Session Description:
Come get acquainted with a public school district in the US that is fully committed to using an academic approach to improve students’ religious literacy. From teachers, to administrators, to the school board, this Chicago-area high school district supports student learning about the diverse religions in the US so that students can become better-informed neighbors, workers, and voters. Five teachers from different high schools in this district share their experiences and wisdom. They are John Camardella (Prospect HS), Jeanne Shin-Cooper (Buffalo Grove HS), Sean Radcliff (Rolling Meadows HS), Brian Hauck (Wheeling HS), and Saarah Mohammed (Elk Grove HS).
