Animals and World Religions Traveling Banner Exhibit Discussion
Session Description:
The Animals and World Religions Traveling Banner Exhibit explores religions and ethics and animals. The exhibit displays such universal teachings as protect the vulnerable, respect life, serve, and be kind, supported by words from religious exemplars such as Gandhi, Mohammed, and Jesus and powerful passages from sacred texts such as Genesis, the Dhammapada, and the Mahabharata. The exhibit provides an overview, then explores religious ethics and philosophy, sacred stories, key terms, religious exemplars, and at least one controversial religious belief/practice before offering a summary and conclusion. Working with people of faith, the Animals and World Religions Traveling Banner Exhibit was created by an internationally known scholar (the author of Animals and World Religions, Oxford University Press) to highlight universal religious values and similarity in diversity with the hope of inspiring compassion and changes in how we live.
