Being of Service in the 21st Century
Session Description:
Religion may point us to the heavens, but it also encourages us to help the Earth, especially in finding ways to assist others and protect our planet. It requires that we look at being of service and building the bridges that will unite humanity and demonstrate that we are all interconnected. Religion and spiritual practices provide a sense of “hope” in human problem-solving. The session shares success stories of service from various countries that address the environment, peace, and human rights. The global networks highlight the advantages of working with people from diverse faiths and spiritual traditions, including indigenous traditions to build stronger communities. Dedication to service in our daily lives can express our religious and spiritual beliefs. It also helps create a more loving and caring community with the resilience and cooperation needed to meet current and future needs. Service creates opportunities to better ourselves and our world as we offer our talents, support, prayers, friendship, and time. The session closes with a meditation for peace and for creating a greater fellowship on Earth.
