Countering Bigotry and Racism Through Calls to Action

Countering Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, anti-Black racism and other forms of bigotry is an essential task for defenders of human rights and democracy. The Intercultural Speakers Bureau (ICSB) brings together panels of speakers from the Muslim, Jewish, African, Indigenous, Latino/Hispanic, and Asian American communities to educate about and counter racism and bigotry. This session begins with an account of the origins of racism and then addresses unconscious bias, its impact on structural racism, what marginalized groups want people to know about them, and what people can do in their communities to counter bigotry and racism.
