Cultivating Strength, Stability, and Compassion: Sufi Practices and Teachings for Resilience
Session Description:
Shabda Kahn, Pir (spiritual director) of the Sufi Ruhaniat International, spiritual leader of the Dances of Universal Peace, master musician, and guide to many, offers an exploration of the cultivation of resilience from a Sufi perspective. The number one approach is to know our true nature as beings that transcend the individual self that we experience in daily life through gradually learning to surrender, to put our self-perceived limitations and concepts aside and attune to the breath, and to the atmosphere of our inner guide – the Spirit of Guidance – a voice that constantly comes from within. When we open our hearts to that Guidance, we gradually learn how to meet life’s challenges. Through sharing inspired teachings and enlivening practices including breath, sound, and movement practices coming through the lineage of Hazrat Inayat Khan and Murshid Samuel Lewis, Shabda guides us in developing strength, stability, and compassion, which are medicine for the suffering of the world.
