Embodying Shakti: A Yagya for Peace

Session Description:

For thousands of years, Hindus have performed yagyas to communicate with the Divine and transformed the world around them. In today’s context where religion has been utilized as a tool to divide, this yagya brings people together in support of the dignity of human life and flourishing. This yagya is a call to equality. This ritual, conducted by two women of different castes, breaks ancient taboos around gender and caste. In leading this prayer, we hope to create an intersectional and interfaith space to pray for peace and offer ourselves to the Divine beyond social barriers. This event is open to everyone, not just Hindus, and we look forward to sharing our practices and meditation with Hindus, seekers, and allies alike. The yagya is a highly participatory interaction in inviting participants to set intentions in the ritualized space, chant, sing, meditate, and offer to the havan kund (ceremonial fire) and in your body.
