This piece has been created by removing the block to the light. It is an 11 foot piece of paper with a light in the back. The shading is created by sanding the paper and removing areas to let the light through. The image is of a 16 year old Israeli girl in military training in her uniform on her way into a mall. It was inspired by a photograph from Ehab Lotayef, and both the photo and the art piece were exhibited at an interfaith exhibition for Peace (Muslim Jewish and Christian) in Montreal at the McClure Gallery. Artists were encouraged to be inspired by each other’s work, to discuss and work together. It is possible to give a talk with a video on this subject, as well as a question and answer session.
