Whoever we are, whatever our religion, we all have ancestors—those whose DNA shaped us, those who raised us, those who have inspired us. In reaching out to our ancestors, we must recognize their flaws as well as their virtues, we can make peace with them and seek a more just understanding of what we do and do not owe to them and to ourselves. Join us in this ritual from the Germanic Pagan tradition in which each participant can hail an ancestor of the flesh or spirit, and in that communion of the dead and the living reach for an understanding that will help us and our communities.
