Is the Flourishing of All Possible in Today’s Divided and Polarized World?
Session Description:
We explore the following themes and constructs grounded in current research: Our tribal nature, relatedly developed worldviews, personal identities, and ingroup versus outgroup dynamics; the need as people and communities to clarify individual and shared epistemologies; understanding humans as moral, value-making creatures; noting the particular challenges that people of color face at this time; learning about the impact of technology and social media on information dissemination and consumption; introducing organizations and communities that provide opportunities to enhance skill sets related to connecting across polarized landscapes. Content provided by presenters offers participants information about how they can effectively work among spaces of division and polarization in a way that emphasizes hope for our democratic institutions, advocacy for diverse religious groups, stability for future generations, and the flourishing of all.
