Living as if All Life Matters – Making a Tangible Commitment to the Global Ethic
Session Description:
The Parliament’s Global Ethic is a powerful call. It asks us to understand and embrace values that will lead to “socially beneficial, peace-fostering, and nature-friendly ways of life.” Understanding and affirming the Global Ethic is the first step. But to have real change, we all must learn new ways of life that translate these values into action. Directive 1: Commitment to a Culture of Non-violence and Respect for Life and Directive 2: Commitment to a Culture of Sustainability and Care for the Earth ask us to use our “gifts of knowledge and craft” to fashion new lifeways that will honor all life on earth and celebrate the “vitality, diversity, and beauty” of God’s creation. In this session, we meet people whose deep commitments to their spiritual growth have been expressed in their personal and professional lives in ways that are benefitting the earth.
