Looking Back and Moving Forward: The Vegan Museum

Session Description:

Today, what is the most important change we each can make in preparation for rebuilding our crumbling world? As our environment continues to collapse, why does the work at The Vegan Museum matter to human society? The Vegan Museum reflects the global shift in food choices by large numbers of people of faith and conscience. Museum founder Kay Stepkin discusses the Windy City’s vegetarian history, as well as her inspiration for starting the world’s first museum devoted entirely to the history of vegetarianism. Lisa Levinson and Victoria Moran discuss the intersection of plant-based diets with religious ideals, and the ramifications of this choice on human rights, human health, environmental integrity, and concern for all God’s creatures. The Museum retells the story of our vegetarian past, while promoting veganism for our health, the environment and all animals, human and non. Participants can participate by spinning our Veg Wheel, answering history questions, and winning prizes!
