Loss, Damage, and Reparations: Climate Justice From A Multifaith and Grassroots Perspective

Session Description:

Local, faith-based leaders and communities all around the world are increasingly facing the need to respond to the confluence of social injustice and climate impacts. Their stories and perspectives represent a vital element for the quest of faith-based solutions to climate change. Participants learn from stories of grassroots, multi-faith action for climate justice, and are invited to share their own stories or struggles. We discuss common themes and opportunities for collaboration in the future, with a particular emphasis on the role of Loss and Damage movements and the need for climate reparations. Presenters speak from their own experiences, contexts, local communities, and they address these three demands, which overlap: no new fossils, equitable phase-out, and just transition.
