CANCELLED: Observance of Lament to Healing on 75th Anniversary of Partition of Punjab
Session Description:
August 15, 1947 marks the partition of Punjab (Land of Five Rivers) in South Asia, which resulted in genocidal massacres and Punjabis being divided along nationalistic borders for over seven decades with little or no means of communication. This observance marks the 75th anniversary of the partition of Punjab by bringing together Sikhs from Charda (Indian) Punjab and Muslims from Lehnda (Pakistani) Punjab for a somber gathering to lift up prayers for the land of the five rivers and its people. The observance focuses on the suffering of all its people and how we can now come together to understand and reconcile our differences for a better future for Punjab and all of South Asia.
