Peace Drums for Peace and Justice

Session Description:

The session explores the creative methodology of using Peace Drums as an indigenous African instrument to demonstrate public awareness, and response to human rights violations and the promotion of peace in vulnerable communities. In African traditional societies, drums are essential for mobilization, communication, and for awareness of social injustices, risks of potential crime and to promote peace through dialogue and activism. Therefore, the session is purposed to generate peace messages through drum sounding, sharing and reflection, archiving and retrieval of the messages for future review and compliance to the peace messages in case of risk of conflict among aggrieved parties. The session allows participation of all to generate thought of interactive role plays and demonstrations to enable reaction, reflection, and feedback to attract and achieve active participation toward local and global promotion of peace, interfaith, and just societies.
