Religion, Faith and Spirituality – (Un)learning Terms for a Pluralistic World

Session Description:

Interfaith Philadelphia’s Building Religious Literacy series is a program that gives participants an opportunity to explore different faith traditions through the personal stories of a variety of practitioners. The kickoff session to the program walks people through important worldview-related terms that are often either narrowly understood or wholly misunderstood. We walk through these terms as a group, gradually developing an appreciation for the expanded or nuanced meaning of these words. This modeling segues into the art of asking curious questions. Halfway through the session, we break into two groups (each observed by one of the facilitators) to continue the practice. By the end of the session, participants have developed a nuanced understanding of terms related to faith, as well as learned and practiced skills to ask substantive curious questions.
