Telling Stories and Performing Ceremony to Resacralize Our Relationship With the Earth

As some nations are experimenting with recognizing the status of the nonhuman world, what will it take for the modern worldview to understand why nonhuman entities are important? This discussion looks at some of the root causes of humanity’s separation from other entities on Earth. We discuss how we can overcome this bias against nonhuman entities by learning from Indigenous peoples and their relationships with the natural world. We share how Indigenous peoples created ethical respect for these relationships through ritual and other practices so they could live in harmony with the non-human world.
