The Ministry of Stories: The Power of Story to Minister to Ourselves and Others
Session Description:
Stories speak a universal language. This interactive session explores why stories are one of the most powerful tools for ministering to each other and ourselves. Why are stories so effective for facilitating interfaith dialogue and deepening religious understanding? In this session we utilize exercises and practical tools, developed by Tracey Erin Smith, through her twenty year award winning work with SOULO Theatre, to excavate our personal experiences and alchemize them into tales that are worthy of the stage, pulpit or a great dinner party! We come to understand and feel the power of story in the work that we do. The ancient technology of storytelling takes truths that are often hard to swallow and encases them in a narrative that helps “the medicine go down”. This session offers you tools to not only change hearts and minds but move people to action through your words.
