What Does it Mean to be Vegetarian? A Discussion
Session Description:
The Vegan Museum opened on February 1, 2017 the first such museum in the country (probably in the world). It consists of 12 hinged, 24 pound, hollow core wood panels, each 30? X 80? and a TV screen on a stand with noted author/speaker Victoria Moran giving a 5-minute presentation on vegetarian history. Our panels cover: Health, Environment, Animals; Our Rich & Deep History: The Ancient World, Chicago 1800s, The Bread Shop; Being Part of a Vibrant Community: Famous Vegetarians, Locals & National Organizations. We have, so far, exhibited at over thirty different Chicago and suburban cultural institutions. We move to a different venue every 2-3 months and also schedule a program for the location each month that our exhibit is there, either a speaker, a documentary on vegetarianism or a food demonstration. We do not charge for bringing in the museum, although as a 501 (c) (3, we sometimes receive donations).
