Women Faith Leaders as Critical Catalysts for a Peaceful and Sustainable World

Session Description:

Women play a vital role in peacebuilding and creating more sustainable communities. Throughout history, women have led the way in conflict resolution, healthy development of the individual and society, and as torchbearers for equality and human rights. Today as we rally together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals we see women leading the way like never before. However, while women in general are critical agents of positive change, women faith leaders have a uniquely powerful role. Our world turns to leaders of faith for direction in how to live, what choices to make, what values, ethics, and priorities to live by. This session highlights how women faith leaders are catalysts in bringing about a more peaceful, sustainable, and just world, the very theme of this Parliament Convening. Eminent leaders speak about existing narratives that impede women’s peacebuilding efforts, offering insights as to how to change those narratives, and how to overcome the hurdles of discrimination and sexism.
