Recognizing Interfaith Changemakers: The Awards at the 2023 Parliament Convening

At the 2023 Parliament of the World’s Religions convening in Chicago, USA from August 14-18, the Parliament of the World’s Religions is presenting four awards recognizing changemakers in the global interfaith movement. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the award winners, coming soon!

The Paul Carus Award

Awarded for outstanding work in the international interreligious movement and excellence in advancing the interreligious movement around the world. The award is sponsored by Blouke Carus, a former Parliament trustee and grandson of the late Paul Carus, a leader and co-organizer of the 1893 Parliament of the World’s Religions.

A legacy award to be presented during a plenary.

 

The Very Reverend Thomas A. Baima Outstanding Contribution to the Global Ethic Award

The Very Reverend Thomas A. Baima Outstanding Contribution to the Global Ethic Award recognizes the significant contribution of the American, Roman Catholic Archdiocesan priest to the Parliament of the World’s Religions’ signature document, “Towards a Global Ethic (An Initial Declaration),” also known as the Global Ethic.

Hans Küng Outstanding Contribution to the Global Ethic Award

Hans Küng Outstanding Contribution to the Global Ethic Award recognizes the significant contribution of the late Swiss, Roman Catholic theologian to the Parliament of the World’s Religions’ signature document, “Towards a Global Ethic (An Initial Declaration),” also known as the Global Ethic.
