Parliament Hosts 1000 Women in Religion Edit-a-thon

Did you know that only 18% of the biographical subjects and 9% of the editors on Wikipedia are women? On Thursday, October 22nd the Parliament’s Women’s Task Force joined the 1000 Women in Religion Wikipedia Project for a special 1000 Women in Religion Edit-a-thon where participants learn how to sign up as wiki-editors, create their personal user page, learn the basics of editing and make their first wiki-edits. 
The program featured an introduction from the Chair of the 1000 Women in Religion Wikipedia Project, Colleen Hartung; Parliament Chair, Audrey Kitagawa; and Parliament Women’s Task Force Co-Chair, Elizabeth Ursic.
The worklist for this Edit-a-thon focuses on keynote speakers and other presenters from the 2015 and 2018 Parliament of World Religions. Participants are also welcome to work on women from any religious, spiritual or wisdom tradition who are not on the worklist. 
The Edit-a-thon was hosted live from 12 pm to 3 pm Central via Zoom.
