Faith and Freedom

Session Description:

“Freedom” is a Germanic word derived from terms for kinship, a recognition of the relationship between individual rights and responsibilities to the community. In this session, we explore how ideas about freedom and justice have manifested in our own Heathen traditions past and present, with both positive and negative results. We consider the cultural and political challenges resulting from historical interpretations of what justice is, what a community is and who can belong to it, and look at ways in which these concepts, reinterpreted, can expand to make our own community more just and facilitate positive interaction with people from other communities.
