Revisited, Recycled, and Revamped: How Pagans Use Myths for New Stories that Matter

Session Description:

Anonymous once said, “A myth is a tale that tells truth.” In a very real sense, we are the stories we hear and tell ourselves, and we internalize the myths embedded in those tales. And every spiritual tradition has myths. And while modernity may have relegated Pagan myths to the status of mere fictions or children’s tales, today’s Pagans do look to them and draw meaning from them. But what relevance do such stories have for a modern audience? Where does one draw inspiration from them? How can these ancient myths help us live more fully today? These are the questions in this discussion. We might not come to any all-encompassing answers, but this could be the beginning of an ongoing pan-Pagan and interfaith dialog about the power of myth and story.
